The Penguins made another signing today, Ruslan Fedotenko signed a one year, $1.8 million dollar deal to stay with the Stanley Cup Champions. Fedotenko made $2.5 million last year so this was a slash in his pay cut and will help in signing another d-man and possibly a backup goalie. Nice signing by Shero. Anyone who doesn't think he knows what he is doing needs to actually start watching hockey and paying attention to what is going on.
Tenk was great in the playoffs and has really seemed to gel with Geno so this was kind of a signing that I kinda knew was coming. When Scuds signed with LA it was almost juts a matter of time before we got the news. I was, however, not expecting him to take the pay cut. I guess Pittsburgh is a pretty sweet place afterall.
The Penguins have roughly $3 million left to sign a free agent, most like a defenseman. Not real sure if there is going to be a trade or if the Penguins are going to just pick up someone and keep this statue quo.
So far the Penguins have brought back 18 players from last years Cup winners. Those players are:
Crobsy, Malkin, Staal, Kunitz, Guerin, Fedotenko, Dupuis, Cooke, Talbot, Godard, Kennedy, Adams, Gonchar, Orpik, Eaton, Goligoski, LeTang, and Fluery.
The newbies are Mike Rupp and a soon to be named sixth defenseman.
What is the phrase that some people like to use? Oh yea, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
In Shero We Trust.
Also it must be noted that you should be on Twitter. Most of the hockey world is Twittering right now about all the news and it is actually a great place to get info.
Have a great 4th everyone. Be safe.
