Penguins Game Day 24 - vs. Montreal Canadians

Montreal Canadians

7:30 PM, Mellon Arena, Pittsburgh, PA

The Pittsburgh Penguins are coming off a thrilling win over the Florida Panthers 3-2, a game in which overrated Sidney Crosby scored two goals.

Here is what I think the lines will be. Same as Florida.

Forwards
Talbot-Crosby-Guerin
Dupuis-Malkin-Fedotenko
Cooke-Staal-Bourque
Rupp-Adams-Godard

Defense
Gonchar-Orpik
Eaton-Engelland
Skoula-Lovejoy

Netminder
Fleury

Tyler Kennedy and Kris Letang are back and skating in full practice. That is very encouraging. I like it.

Here is some scoop on the Canadians from their website.

CANADIENS (12-11-1) at PENGUINS (16-8-0)

Last 10 -- Canadiens 5-4-1; Penguins 5-5-0

Season series -- The teams are meeting for the second time this season, both in Pittsburgh. The Penguins routed Montreal 6-1 at Mellon Arena on Oct. 28, with Sidney Crosby getting a hat trick. The Penguins go to the BellCenter on Dec. 10 and Feb. 6.

Big story -- Both teams are scrambling to deal with a plethora of injuries -- and doing pretty well at it. The Canadiens have been riding the goaltending of Carey Price, who's 3-0-1 in his last four games -- including a 5-3 home victory over Columbus on Tuesday. The Penguins had five of their six regulars on defense sidelined last week; Sergei Gonchar and Brooks Orpik are back, but the Penguins have gotten production from replacements like Martin Skoula, who scored twice in Saturday's win over Atlanta.

Carey Price in net for the Habs makes me feel good. I do not think very highly of him and I think he has way more cracks that can be fixed this year. He had very lofty expectations when he came in a few years ago as the starting goalie and I just think he wasn't ready for those. The fans are very hard on him which is why he is 5-4 on the road this season and 2-4 at home. Is this the only reason? No. But I think there is some validity to the fact that he tries to impress those fans so hard that he just struggles.

This is the first of three games for the Penguins in the next four days. They play the Habs tonight, have off Thanksgiving then go back-to-back with the Islanders and Rangers. Gonna be a tough stretch. Tonight will be a good start if the Penguins can get a win.

Lets get it on.

Lets Go Pens
