Well it is time to say bye to the year 2009. A year that saw the Steelers win the Super Bowl, the Penguins exercise their demons and defeated the Detroit Red Wings and the Pirates ended with their 17th straight losing season.
Through it all it has been a great run. I have had an amazing year blogging and I just wanted to thank all of my readers and people that have stumbled onto this site and read some of this nonsense.
I just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and please be careful when you go out tonight to have fun.
This might be a shock to everyone today but the Steelers are still in the playoff mix. I know you are thinking "Wow, I thought the Steelers were out of the playoffs six weeks ago by the way the people were jumping off the Clemente bridge" but you would be wrong.
Sure, it is going to be tough to get into the playoffs with what we need to happen, but hey, look at the Eagles last year and how many different losses it took for them to get in. There is a fighters chance here and we know how the Steelers play with their backs against the wall (check the last two weeks).
So lets cut out all the BS and take a look at the games of interest here. All games are on Sunday and EST.
Pittsburgh @ Miami - 1:00 PM If the Steelers don't win this game then this post doesn't even matter. Without this win the Steelers do not get in unless six different teams actually fall off the face of the earth.
New England @ Houstin - 1:00 PM
Baltimore @ Oakland - 4:15 PM
Kansas City @ Denver - 4:15 PM
Cincinnati @ New York Jets - 8:20 PM
Here is the playoff scenerios:
Now a few things that we have to clear up about this whole situation. The big problem that the Steelers have is that the Patriots and Bengals are playing at two different times. Both teams are playing for the third seed and Cincinnati is going to have the opportunity to know their playoff seed before they even set the field.
Houstin is a very hot team coming off a huge win over Miami so it is going to be a good game against the Patriots, especially if the Patriots don't care about getting the third seed. Ken Laird was on ESPN Radio afer the Mike Tomlin presser and said he talked to some people he used to work in New England and they seem to think Tom Brady might not play much against Houstin if at all. I don't know how valid that is but Billy is not afraid to sit his players and it has been noted that Brady has been getting pretty banged up over the year.
The Cincinnati game is one that kinda worries me. Not sure if as much as the New England game but it worries me. The Bengals are going to know their fate. Scenerio one is the Pats winning, gettin the three seed and locking the Bengals into the fourth seed. Do you play Carson Palmer, Chad Ochocinco and there big stars more than a half? Probably not. Will you beat the Jets with that kinda lineup? Probably not.
Scenerio two is the Patriots taking a loss (which kills the Steelers) and the Bengals having a shot at the three seed. You might see those players getting into the game more, and this still means the Steelers have a chance although it is not a very good one.
Another consideration that a friend had was the possibility that the Bengals pull their players regardless and stick it to the Steelers to keep them out? Now do I think that the Bengals would purposly tank a game to keep the Steelers out? Hell no. But, would that be an added bonus if they are locked into a spot of if they don't see a difference between the third and fourth seed to keep the Steelers out? Hell yea.
I don't know if the Bengals are thinking about that but it seems as if the Bengals already had made their decisions. Check out this little ditty that the boys at OFTOT found this morning when we were talking on Twitter about this(be sure to follow me on Twitter here to keep in the loop).
I have no idea where I sit on that front. I mean the Bengals beat up twice but would you rather see the Jets or the Steelers in a one game playoff?
The other games that will mean something if one of the Bengals or New England lose will be the Baltimore/Oakland game and the Kansas City/Denver game. If one of the two teams above would fall (NE or Cincy) then we need both the Raiders and Chiefs to win. I could see Oakland taking down the Ravens.
Before you start laughing at my last statement really take a look at the teams that the Raiders have beat this year. Done looking? I figured you didn't look so take a read at these teams: Eagles, Bengals, Steelers, Broncos. All in the hunt for the playoffs. Could it happen again to another playoff bound team? Sure why not? The Raiders will be at home so hopefully they can give us a holiday present.
I am not sure about the Chiefs going to Mile High and beating the Broncos is going to be hard. Not saying that the Broncos have really anything going for them, but I just don't know if the Chiefs has what it takes.
To recap, I would love to see the Patriots and Bengals to both lose so we don't have to worry about the other BS.
The Penguins roll into Buffalo to take on a very good Sabres team just a day before they roll over to The Rock to take on the New Jersey Devils tomorrow night to kick off their four game road swing.
The Penguins are coming off a tough 4-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night 4-3.
I am not going to lie I didn't really get a good look at the game since I was all over the place on Sunday.
The last time the Penguins and Sabres met was at the HSBC Center on December 19 which resulted in a 2-1 win for the Pengins in the shootout.
Now Ryan Miller did not play in the game that night so that will be a huge deal as he is expected to play in tonights game. Not sure if anyone follows the NHL much but Ryan Miller is kind of a big deal. So far this year he is supporting a 1.98 GAA, a league best .935 save percentage and 21 wins (one behind Marc Andre Fluery). Miller has struggled against the Penguins, however, is 2-2-1 with a 4.14 GAA in his last five starts versus the Penguins.
ESPN also fills us in that the Sabres are 10-1-4 in one-goal games.
Here is the expected line up tonight for the game with the Sabres
It must be noted that Mark Eaton might play so if he does you can pencil him in for Marty Skoula and Tyler Kennedy might be a game time decision to play. If TK is in the lineup then you would probably scratch Godard and put Rupp down on the fourth line and put TK in with Cooke and Staal.
Before we let you go here is a little statistical breakdown of the game:
The Steelers got the big performance they needed and downed the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 last night at Heinz field to push them back over .500 for the season and kept them with an outside shot of going to the playoffs.
Here is a quick version of the game recap since I am lazy and I was at the game and really am tired today from a long day yesterday.
Just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. I hope everyone has a great time with their families and whatever they may do. I hope everyone is safe and y'all have a great time.
No game recap from me last night since I got home late after meeting some friends but I have some pictures and such. I was actually at the game and it was awesome.
How do you let Geno and Bing go down 2-0? That is just messed up.
All kidding aside, that was a very wierd game. The Penguins got outplayed in the first, gave up 24 shots (one less than a team record for shots against at home) and were only tied. MAF was just outta his mind in the first. I mean he was the number one star at the end of the night and he deserved every bit of it.
It is hard to imagine you give the number one star of the game to a goalie in an 8-2 game, but you can in this game. He made great save after great save to keep the team in it and finished the game with something like 44 saves. That is pretty legit.
I was also looking in the rafters at the Igloo and it is just remarkable the scoring championships that the Penguins have won.
Between 1992-2001 the Penguins won nine of 10 scoring championships. Talk about a team. During that stretch only the 1994 season was a season where a person not named Jagr or Lemieux won a scoring championship. They were pimps
Max has a new commercial. It is sweet.
Here is Max's new commercial for Valley Pool and Spa. Priceless.
Looks like Mark Eaton will be out of the line up for about a week so we will see much more Skoula on our television. I am ok with that, he has played well and he seems to know his role and plays it very well.
The Pens are coming off a tough game against the Devils where they were shut out 4-0 and really got nothing going. I know, I was there. I will be in the house again for the game tonight so hopefully it's not me that is bad luck for the Penguins.
The Penguins will take on another Eastern Conference opponent when the Sens come to town. The Penguins will play the Sens at home for the first time this season after splitting two games at Scotiabank Place. The Penguins took home the first game of the series 4-1 on October 12.
The Senators bounced back and got a 6-2 win on November 19.
A quick look at the statistical breakdown:
The Penguins are going to have to bounce back and so is MAF. You know what, I am not really concerned about the loss to to Devils. Actually driving home from the game on Monday I was listening to Bob Grove after the game and some people thought we only had 10 wins on the season and not 25. One caller actually complained that we don't shoot enough on the power play and in the next sentence said we needed to give Godard some play on the power play? Really? Grover went speachless for a minute and I had no idea what this guy was thinking.
Anyways, I think the Penguins will get back on track. They will be alright. One loss does not define a season and Marty is one of a kind. It was nice to be there for a piece on NHL history, althought I would have liked to see the win.
EDIT: I just heard word from the guys over at Pens Universe that Feds and Dupes will be skating with Bing. Should be pretty interesting to see that line combination. Not sure what that means for the lines but I still feel good.
EDIT 2 - The lines are changed to reflect what we will see tonight, here they are:
It has been rehashed on millions of blogs (ok, maybe not millions) about the Steelers and what they have to do to make the playoffs. I am doing the exact same thing here today so if you don't like it then deal with it.
First, here is the scenerio:
The teams that are up for the last two spots (in order)
First off if the first thing you say is "Holy Shit" then you are the same as me when I saw this. What a mess.
It looks pretty sloppy but when you look at week 16 in the NFL you might have everything pretty much figured out once the weekend is over.
Week 16 in the NFL:
Baltimore @ Pittsburgh Jacksonville @ New England Houston @ Miami NY Jets @ Indianapolis San Diego @ Tennessee Denver @ Philadelphia
First off, the Steelers have to beat Baltimore, if they don't then it is over. But lets take a look at the rest of the games.
To start it is huge that the Steelers have the tiebreakers over the Broncos and the Titans.
Denver goes to Philly and if the Broncos lose and our Steelers win they they leapfrog the Broncos and take over ahead of them. After the Steelers beat the Broncos I said to my Broncos friend that they would not make the playoffs. They are going to Philadelphia to play against a red hot team in the Eagles. I think this looks pretty good for the Steelers for the Eagles to come out and play a good game. McNabb is solid and their defense can get after you. They are also fighting for the last playoff spot so this is very good for us.
You would think that we would want the Texans to knock off the Dolphins, but hold on a minute. It would actually benefit the Steelers for Miami to win this football game. What you ask? The Steelers are set to play Miami in week 17 so if the Steelers win they get the head to head win over them. We wouldn't actually mind seeing Miami win this ball game to knock the Texans completely out of the way.
The Steelers also have that breaker over the Titans so San Diego winning would really just put the nail into the coffin for Tennessee. Tennessee really doesn't have a chance so this game really does not mean much for us this weekend. But whatev.
New England still have to have another win to wrap up the AFC East so they will be playing balls out against the Jags and they will be up in the Northeast. I like it. I hate rooting for the Pats but this week I am a Pats fan.
Indy has everything wrappped up but they are playing at home in front of their fans who most definatly want to have the undefeated season to match the Pats from two years ago. If this was week 17 I would definatly say the Jets have the upper hand in this game, but its not week 17 is it?
So if things go as I want them to then the Steelers, Patriots, Dolphins, Colts and Charges win this weekend. If that happens then it sets up a win and get in for the Steelers against the Dolphins on January 3. What have I said before, just get it to a game seven (or a one game playoff) and anything can happen. A lot of scoreboard watching going to be going on for the Steelers game. If all of this happens the Steelers will beat Miami and make the playoffs. After the Raiders beat the Steelers I told my boss the Steelers would get to the playoffs, and I plan to keep that promise.
Keep the faith, a lot of fans quit on this team when they lost to Oakland. I can't wait to see them come back when this team is in the playoffs.
(Ups to The Steelers n'at for pointing out my idiot mistakes in the post)
- I thought that the Packers were the home team - Ben has got some legit guns - The cheerleaders are in blue and white. Go figure. - Does Ben seem like he's going to punt from that position?
Mark Eaton will not be in the line up tonight after it comes out that he has an undisclosed injury.
The Devils coming in only giving up 75 goals this year, that is good for third fewest in the NHL. The Penguins have scored 116 goals this season, second in the league. What gives? I guess that will be on MAF and Marty tonight.
New Jersey typically plays pretty well in Pittsburgh as they are 26-9-1 in Pittsburgh since March 4, 1997. The Devils are 2-0 this season against the Penguins and have beat them by identical 4-1 scores both times. Will we see the clutch and grab that is the New Jersey Devils? I bet we will. I think the Penguins will be alright thought will their line up playing so well and having most everyone healthy.
Coming in the Penguins are as hot as your neighbors sister going 8-1-1 in their last 10 while the Devils are 8-2-0 in their last 10. I mean hot twins. Or something like that.
Isn't it amazing how every year you keep hearing about how New Jersey can't play like this and they won't be good again like last year. They love people saying that about them.
Zach Parise is the real deal for New Jersey. I think he is one of the best players in the game and he is the most underrated player.
I will be in attendence tonight so check me out on Twitter for some pictures and shit.
I am going to be traveling back to Pittsburgh from Alaska over the weekend and needless to say I am going to be having a great time my first weekend back. I will be in attendance for the Steelers/Packers game at Heinz Field, the first Steelers game I will have been to since the Steelers/Ravens AFCC game. We all know how that turned out.
I guess I feel I will be the leader of the charge for the Steelers to get back on the winning track. If you really sit back and think about it the Steelers already beat the Packers this year. I mean we beat Brett Farve and he is still like the God of Green Bay right? So in a way we already beat Green Bay so we have the psychological advantage. Or something like that.
Since I am taking a long and drawn out trip that will span over 16 hours this recap is as likely to be as good as the Steelers have been the past five weeks, which is not very good. So basically what I have done is pasted a lot of pictures with little to no words. Enjoy.
Here is a recap from last year's preseason. It really means nothing.
Hit it
I know these photo's have little or nothing to do with the game but here is a short breakdown.
I would take Ben over Rodgers
I would take our line over their line
The WR corps are a push, maybe going to GB
The DL goes to Pittsburgh
LB goes to Pittsburgh
DB's goes to GB since we have none
Special teams goes to GB
Outside of that my prediction is Steelers - 103, Packers - 12
Another night, another win over the Flyers. The Flyers probably played one of their best games of the year, in a loss. Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby scored shootout goals and the Flyers were shut out by Marc Andre Fluery in the Penguins second win over the Flyers in the last three days.
The Flyers gooned it up. The Penguins won again.
The Flyers actually got on the board first with a Jeff Carter goal just 1:15 into the game. Nonetheless Daniel Carcillo took a penalty and dad found the back of the net for the tie.
Claude Giroux got the Flyers back on top with another power play goal but then it happened. Sid decided he wanted to score and he did. Chris Pronger was supposed to come in and shut him down but Pronger gave Bing a perfect pass and he just dropped a bomb to tie the game mid way through the second.
This was a really good game the rest of the way. Teams traded chances and both teams got some great looks. You know a goalie is the real deal when he decides to put his team on his back and will them to points. MAF did that tonight. He was just spectacular in goal and made some highlight reel saves on Carter and company.
Another rare situation took place in the game when overtime went to three on three when Orpik and Carcillo both went to the box. Honestly I don't think the players knew what to do during the three on three. There was a lot of skating in circles and not a lot of action. There was so much wide open space I don't think they really realised what to do with it.
That can't be something that goes on in practice. I mean you talk abotu the Winter Classic being a throwback to the old times, well three on three overtimes are a throwback too. Throwback to the times when you used to play on the street, three on three, with no goaltenders.
Another thing that needs changed in the overtime system with shootout. That was a great game tonight that was decided by a skills competition. I mean sure it worked out in the Penguins favor but I could have gone for a little more hockey. That was a really good game between two rivals and it just needed to go a little farther. Just my opinion though.
I used to hate hearing the Crosby sucks chant but now it just makes me laugh. Bing scores and what is the next thing that the Flyer fans do? Chanting Crosby sucks, right after he scores a goal. What does that even accomplish? Not a whole lot excpect make me smile and laugh.'
The shootout was pretty dominating all the way around. MAF mad a save on Claude Giroux after Brier missed the net. Kris Letang just made Brian Boucher look like a complete fool. The little head and shoulder fake that Tang gave just froze Boucher and he literally flopped around like a fish out of water on the ice and had no chance as Tang went top shelf. Bing came up next and ended it. What a pefect ending.
During the broadcast FSN came in with a money stat. Check this out:
Says a lot doesn't it?
The Penguins gaiend four points and gave up one to the Flyers in the home and home. I am alright with that. Pretty good showing for the Penguins.
It's Wednesday. Nine days till Christmas, and you, like me, are getting antsy to be done with work and get on with festivities you have planned.
With the holiday cheer that the Pittsburgh Penguins brought me last night I think I am going to throw a little news and notes up here today. If you think there is something important the leave it in the comments section.
For those of you that missed it, here is the recap of the Penguins/Flyers game:
Seriously, I have to ask. How do you justify paying Scott Harnell $4 million a year? What does he do for your team but take terrible penalties at big times?
Actually check out the what the Flyers pay their players for their production:
Mike Richards and Jeff Carter have 26 and 25 points respectively. Dan Brier has 19 points. What are they spending this money on? Don't even get me started on Chris Pronger. He is old as balls and the Flyers have him signed for 18 more years. Way to go. Richards is tied for 49th in scoring. Nice job improving your team to run with the Penguins.
The Flyers signed Pronger to match up on Crosby. We will see how that goes tomorrow.
James Walker has a nice post up today about how the Pro Bowl voting is looking. Although the Steelers are struggling they still have a ton of players on the list. As much as I love Troy and how great I think he is, he has no business being in the top spot for safety. If you don't play you shouldn't get in. Troy is one of the best but he should not be in the Pro Bowl.
James also takes a look at the Jekyll and Hyde that is the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. They have played so well against good teams and so bad against bad teams. It is so hard to watch. He really makes a good point when he says that the Steelers have not lost a game by more than seven points and those were the games that went the Steelers way last season. It happens, but it is so hard to watch.
Also it must be mentioned that a ton of blogs are doing decade in reviews so make sure you check them out. WHYGAVS will be putting up Pirates stuff, The Steelers n'at is already in full swing with their Steelers stuff, D.C. Steeler Nation has some stuff goin on and I know there are a bunch more but that is all I am going to put up for now.
Hope every has a great hump day.
Get ready to go to Philly tomorrow boys. I can't wait to laugh when Sid lights them up.
You wanna know why the Penguins are champions and the Flyers are fluttering around .500? Watch this game. The Flyers want to muck it up and the Penguins throw up the bird and say we are going to burry you.
The Penguins started early, and kept it coming often (that's what she said) and downed the Flyers 6-1 at Lady Mellon tonight.
Let me just start off and say that I give big ups to people down in the barn. It was definatly a playoff atmosphere there tonight and everyone there was on their A game from the drop of the puck. It was great to watch it on TV and hear how buzzing it was. *standing o*
It has noted that the Penguins power play has been bad all season. What happens to start the game? The Flyers take a penalty and the Penguins bad power play hooks it up big time. Sarge takes a slap shot that hits Tenko and right to Crosby to burry the puck in the net. 1-0.
What happened next was something that you can't even really explain. Three fights all in a matter of 16 seconds. Mike Rupp first squared off against Aaron Asham then six seconds later Godard went against Cote and 10 seconds later Adams went against Carcillo. What a wild 16 seconds.
What happens right after that? Dad scores.
The Flyers come back and who else scores but Dan Carcillo. What a joke. He throws his arms up in the air and runs into the glass as everyone that is sitting there throws the middle finger up.
This dude is a total douche.
The Carcillo goal was a power play goal when Geno was in the box. Two min later Geno goes back into the box and you can feel the "you have got to be kidding me" feeling that you get. Just when you are thinking that a goal is scored,
by Jordan Staal. Shorie.
Staal opened up the second period with another goal off. Sid gets the puck to Tanger and instead of shooting it he just throws it off of Boucher's far pad and Staal is there again. What a play by Tang.
The third period was just a case of the Flyers quitting and giving up on the game. It was really sad to watch, but I laughed the entire time. Geno is rushing up ice and gets a no look off to Tenko who one times it top right corner on Boucher to make it 5-1.
Godard takes a late penalty and if the next sequence doesn't say that the Flyers quit then I don't know what does. The Flyers are on the power play, Geno get the puck in his own end, skates the length of the ice and just fires a shot on net and he scores. Geno knows the Flyers quit, he didn't even celebrate the goal.
What a joke.
MAF didn't have his best tonight but you know what he still stopped 26 shots. That is what big time goalies do. He coulda let it get to a 3-2 or 4-2 game but he said no. That is why he is a big deal.
Sid now has scored 49 points in 28 career games against the Flyers. You know the best part, in Philadelphia Thursday night the crowd will still chant "Crosby Sucks". No wonder people think your city is a joke. The jealousy that radiates from Philadelphia when the Penguins come in is boarderline sicking.
Hey Philadelphia why don't you go throw some snowballs at Santa.
The boys over at The Steeler n'at did an amazing job to put together their first part of a decade series about our Pittsburgh Steelers. They did their top 10 games which you can find by clicking this link. The one that they covered that I was most interested in was he 2003 (they probably refer to it as the 2002) AFC Wild Card game against the Browns. The Steelers were down 24-7 with like three minutes left in the third quarter and, well, you know what goes on. The boys had the YouTube up and I had to pass this along. What a game.
The Penguins are in the thick of their season and after last night's 3-2 overtime win over the Panthers, which I called by the way, they sit with 22 wins, most in the NHL.
How cash has the third and fourth line been for the Penguins so far this season, namely Dupuis and Rupp. Shero is just a beast. If you remember Dupes came to the Penguins in the Fiesta Mexicana deal.
Remember when everyone thought we were giving up too much for Hoss and Dupes? Where is exactly are those players we gave up playing now? Yea, thats what I thought. That is why Shero is the GM of the Pens and you are sitting on your couch.
Take a look at the trade.
Here is Colby Amrstrong since the trade:
Here is Erik Christensen since the trade:
Esposito has not played in any NHL action.
I don't think we gave up world beaters like most people said we did. Whatev. I threw those stats up there because I wanted to fill up some space. Really it means nothing. Dupuis is a good PK guy who has stepped up big this year. Bigger probably than Christensen or Armstrong would have been able to, IMO.
Geno Malkin netted his nineth goal of the season last night. Now I know some of you are thinking that "Oh man Malkin is in a big slump. What is going on? Why isn't he scoring five goals a night?" If it were that easy, everyone would do it. Geno still has 31 points and is a +12 on the season. When February turns into March and the Penguins march on to May Geno is going to still be kicking ass and taking names.
Like I was talking about before when you can get nine goals from Dupes, nine from Rupp, six from Cooke you have a complete team. Everyone on this team is doing their job and giving the team a chance to win on any given night.
MAF has also been solid. You might not realize that by looking at the stats but MAF is one of the best in the league in the most important stat of all: wins. MAF has 18 of the 22 Penguin wins this season. He is never going to have a flashy GAA or save percentage but what he is going to do is get the job done. He makes the big saves when you need him to and locks down the game. I think the most encouraging thing about MAF is that he just gets better every year. This is no one trick pony. Every year he gets more confident and shows more poise. That is very good and very scary.
Take a look at the standings in the Atlantic divisoin as of today:
See who is in the celler? I guess Pronger isn't as big of a factor as one might have thought. Shit, I could have told you that.
I could sit here and talk about how the Flyers are a joke and are in the bottom on the division and are looking at the brink of their season coming up, but the Penguins are going to have to take care of them coming up.
Take a look at the Penguins upcoming schedule:
Now I know you see those Flyers game and you start to think that those are the biggests games of the month of December, but you would be wrong. Sure does it get your blood pumping when you play the Flyers? Hell yea it does. But those two games against the Devils are going to be major. The Devils are tied with the Penguins atop the standing with two games in hand. The Penguins also play a very good Buffalo team and Ottawa who has been playing much better since Mr. Heatley has left.
It is a great day to be a Penguins fan and it will be a great rest of the month to watch Penguins hockey. The Penguins have their full squad back so lets see what they can do against the best of the east coming up.
The Steelers came out and ended the season with a bad loss to the Cleveland Browns.
The Steelers were not “up to snuff” as Mike Tomlin may say and it was a very hard game to watch on both sides of the ball. Nobody was really strong tonight on either side of the ball. It happens, but not usually to the Browns.
This was the Super Bowl for the Browns and they won. Kudos to the Browns defense. Their DB’s played one hell of a game and any time you can sack a QB eight times you are playing some decent football.
This wasn’t the year for the Steelers, but what pisses me off more than the loss to the Browns is the way some Steelers fan reacted to this. Like this team has never won a Super Bowl or got you to the AFCC game numerous times. Get over yourself, but I will get to those people later.
The Penguins will look to break the Montreal Canadians three game win streak when they travel to the Bell Centre for the first time this season.
The Penguins come in off a two game losing streak although they did pull out a point in one of those matches, against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Penguins are still 20-10-1 on the season for 41 points. Not too shabby.
The Habs come in 15-14-2, not very surprising considering the Habs brought in a whole new team this season. It also doesn't help that Carey Price is as reliable as your six year old sister at doing algebra.
Price will likely get the start tonight as he is 9-10-2 with a 2.69 GAA this season. It's not that Price doesn't have the talent, it is just that Montreal probably wasn't the best place to start as a 19 year old. The pressure in that city is so unbelievable that he just hasn't come out of that shell.
It also doesn't help when your fans riot after you beat the number eight seed in the first round of the playoffs in seven games. Jokes.
Looks like Gogo is going to be back in the lineup tonight. Should be a good day.
Not only do the Penguins play but so do the Steelers. This is going to be an awesome day.
Here are the lines thanks to the Penguins website:
When I think of the Cleveland Browns this is what I think of:
I could say that this was going to be another gimme, but I would just be lying to you guys. The Chiefs and Raiders were gimmes and we all know how that went. I can't believe that it has really come to this. What a joke.
Brady Quinn obviously does not social network on the internet
Bing is back. He is pissed. May God have mercy on the Carolina Hurricanes tonight.
"I'm in," Crosby said.
Oh. Yea.
Kunitz and Gogo are also back on the ice practicing which is a very good sign. Kunitz has been sidelined for some time now as everyone originally thought that the injury was of the two week variety but it has been longer. Gogo came back for a game and then promptly sat back down. Almost back at 100%.
Although the Penguins have been beat up Mark Letestu did a phenomenal job against the Blackhawks last week. He was winning face offs and setting up play makers to make plays. His face off win with a little over a minute left in regulation directly led to the Penguins tying it up and getting a point. You love to see players from WBS come up with something to prove and perform well.
The Hurricanes are just a struggling program one year after going to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Canes are 6-17-5 and they are a dismal 0-10-3 on the road this year. But hey, they got Cam Ward:
and who can forget the Caaaaaaaaaam Waaaaaaaaard chant?
