Penguins Game Day 1 - vs. Philadelphia Flyers

Philadelphia Flyers

7:00 p.m., Mellon Are...err...Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA

Seems like years ago that the Penguins were playing hockey. Caught up in all of this was that it wasn't years ago. It just seems like it.

What a better way to kick the season off than from a visit from the Flyers. There migth not be a team in professional sports that I hate more than the Flyers. They stand for everything that is wrong with being a fan and I cannot understand how someone could root for a garbage team like they have.

Should be a big night. I guess there is this little building going up somewhere in the city. Not really sure where, but I guess it is going to be brought in with some kind of little celebration.

The lines for the Penguins will be as follows:

Forwards
Chris Kunitz - Sidney Crosby - Pascal Dupuis
Eric Tangradi - Mike Comrie - Evgeni Malkin
Matt Cooke - Mark Letestu - Tyler Kennedy
Mike Rupp - Craig Adams - Max Talbot/Eric Godard

Defense
Brooks Orpik - Zbynek Michalek
Ben Lovejoy - Paul Martin
Alex Goligoski - Deryk Engelland

Goaltender
Marc-Andre Fleury

Kris Letang is "under the weather" and will be a game-time decision. Letang will most likely take Lovejoy's spot if he is going to play.

I don't typically post the oppoent lineup, mainly because I am lazy, but here it is for the Flyers:

Forwards
Daniel Carcillo - Mike Richards - Jeff Carter
Scott Hartnell - Daniel Briere - Ville Leino
Nikolay Zherdev - Claude Giroux - James van Riemsdyk
Jody Shelly - Blair Betts - Darroll Powe

Defense
Kimmo Timonen - Matt Carle
Andrej Meszaros - Braydon Coburn
Sean O'Donnell - Oskars Bartulis

Goaltender
Sergei Bobrovsky

A few notables. Pronger is out. I guess he thought the first game of the season was a little early to get embarassed by Bing. The second is SERGEI BOBROVSKY? Who the hell is this kid. I guess he is 22 years old and from Russia. What is wrong with Boucher? I mean not that he is any good but come on. Talk about baptism by fire. I guess not working on getting goaltending over the offseason was a mistake huh Philadelphia?

This is the start of another season with high asperations. I would love to see the Penguins put up a seven spot tonight and hear the Go Home Flyers chant all over my TV.

Lets Go Pens
