Penguins Game Day 19 - vs. New York Rangers

 New York Rangers

7:00 p.m., Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA

The Penguins return back to the Consol after a quick trip down to Atlanta. The good news. The Penguins are riding a two game winning streak and they are winning with their top guns. Geno has been playing great hockey lately and Marc Andre Fleury has picked up back to back wins after struggling for a good portion of the season.

Some bad news for tonight though, turns out that TK will be a scratch due to an illness. Tough break because TK gives the Guins some good minutes and is really a spark plug. I mean sure he might miss the net (badly) here and there (or more) and sometimes even make sure the goaltender isn't a cardboard cut out by shooting it right into the chest. Whatever.

MAF'er is getting the start in net tonight. I was waiting for the chance for Marc to get a string of games where he could start to get into some kind of groove. Although it took some pretty good games for him to keep getting the starts, I like where this is going. The home crowd actually picked him up the last time with a chant before the game and he responeded.

A few former Penguins make their return to Pittsburgh. Eric Christensen and Ruslan Fedotenko return to the Burgh. If you remember Christensen was traded away for Hossa and most people acted like the best player in the NHL was gone. Having him as your first line center kinda says something about your team. Honestly.

Marc Staal is pretty good. I think he actually has a brother or two. Not really sure.

Sean Avery is a bitch.
