7:00 p.m., Verizon Center, Washington, D.C.
The Penguins go into the Verizon Center for the first time this season. They are playing some pretty good hockey after beating the Panthers 4-1 last night. Not a great effort in the second and third period, but as Bing said after the game they were thinking about the Capitals. If you don't think they had their sights set on the Caps after hearing this the night before then you are kidding yourself:
Not really sure what is up with the Caps and their fans. After watching 24/7 last night you can see that the bright lights of HBO and the losing streak is really getting to Washington.
This was on the front page of NHL.com today (Thanks to @pensexperience for the find):
The Capitals could win 100-0 or the Penguins could win by 300 but it would still be just a December game. I guess when you are one and done in the playoffs year after year you look for your big games duirng the regular season.
Whatev. This should be a pretty competitive game, the Capitals aren't play good hockey right now, at all, but you know how a rivalry pulls the best out of the teams so I expect this to be a close game.
If there is one thing that just gets me to cringe it is the bells and whistles that the Verizon Center uses when the Capitals score goals. It litereally sounds like the VC is a fire truck going to put out a fire. I mean I know the Penguins are getting into some more of the flashy stuff but it is nothing like what Washington does. It angers me.
