Toronto Maple Leafs
7:00 p.m., Air Canada Centre, Toronto, Ontario
Really tough game in Carolina last night. There were a few guys back and it was AK72's first game with the team. I wasn't able to watch much of the game due to work but I did see a couple of the Penguins power plays and he is going to make a different. Having him at the point is going to be a huge asset, but expecting him to fly in the day before and put up three points was pretty unrealistic.
What it interesting about the road trip is that the Penguins are going to be in Toronto tonight, and then play in Toronto again on Wednesday. Back-to-back games in the same city and not a home-and-home. I don't recall seeing this very often at all so this had to have been a slip in the schedule making or just that once in a blue moon type of thing. I could be wrong, but whatever.
Brett Sterling was sent down today. Kind of interesting, but not a real shock. I would rather him get some ice time than being a healthy scratch. Not really deserving to get sent down, but where is he going to play? Not a third or fourth line guy and the way TK is playing you can't sit him.
The Leafs are pushing to be a playoff team this season and are currently tenth in the East. It will be interesting to see how this team makes the push for the playoffs. That should also give these next two games against the Penguins more of a playoff feel to them than a typical Pens/Leafs game over the last couple of years.
