While I was at the gym working out today a commercial came on the TV. Typically I don't pay attention to commercials but this one caught my eye. Want to know why? Check it out:
This was made by ESPN and they describe it as such: "NFL fans are some of the most rabid fans in the world. Here, we celebrate the show of fandom by Steelers fans' insistence on bringing The Terrible Towel all over the world. It's not crazy, It's sports."
I know a lot of non-Steelers fans are going to poke fun and laugh at this but take a second to think about how many times you watch a sporting event and you see a team waving a towel. The Steelers were some of the first, if not the first, to start this tradition and while fans of other teams make fun of it you can bet that their teams have done something similar.
While the Terrible Towel is mainly associated with the Steelers I think now, more than ever, it is a staple of a whole city and not just the football team. It is something that brings everyone from Pittsburgh together as one.
This was a pretty cool commercial to see and I am proud to say I am a part of something this great
