Penguins Game Day 32 - @ Ottawa Senators

Ottawa Senators

7:30 p.m., Scotiabank Place, Ottawa, Ontario

Honestly no idea on who is going to play for the Penguins. Everyone is hurt. No Gonchar for the Sens tonight along with no Milan Michalek (tied for league lead in goals scored) the Sens will also be short handed. Eric Tangradi will probably get into the lineup tonight.

The Sens are only a .500 ball club but the Penguins themselves are only 5-4-1 in the last 10 contests and have fallen behind the Rangers and red hot Flyers (9-1-0 in last 10). I have said it many times before but it's only December and as long as they are around the hunt for a division championship in March I can't complain. They are struggling but every team struggles at some point in the year. Hell, look at the Bruins to start the year. They were brutal before not losing a game in like two months.

Also interesting to note that Chris Pronger has been ruled out for the rest of the season AND the playoffs for the Flyers. He has severe post concussion symptoms and while this is not related to this game it is related to the overall view of concussions now in hockey. If you could put together a team of players that were out with concussions or head injuries you would win the cup. Tough times for the NHL and it will be interesting to see how they try and fix this going forward. You can't have all your top players sitting out for long periods of time. Changes probably need to be made. I am not sure what those are but I would hope that the NHLPA and the league are getting started on those internal discussions now.
