Penguins Game 41 Recap - Senators 5, Penguins 1

Just brutal. Again. The Penguins got smoked by the Senators 5-1 at the CONSOL tonight. Granted Ottawa is now 9-1-2 in their last 12 games, which they have beat the Penguins twice, but tonight was just brutal.

Not too much to say about this game. Nothing looked right and the Penguins were all over the place. Brent Johnson got the start in net and was yanked after only 22 minutes and giving up three goals on eight shots. Last season Johnson was a brick wall behind Fleury but this year he has just not had it. Granted all of this is far from his, or MAF's, fault but he just looks awful in net.

Evgeni Malkin finally put one past Craig Anderson in the second period, but that was after four goals by Ottawa. There was just no jump after the second Ottawa goal and things just went down the tank really fast.

Ben Lovejoy has been good all year but he was terrible tonight. He was embarrassed on the first two scored by Ottawa, one by Chris Neil. Vomit.

Eric Tangradi was pretty bad tonight too. No idea what he was doing on Ottawa's fifth goal.

The Penguins are still in the playoffs as of now but really it's way too early for that stuff. This was game 41, the exact halfway point of the season. If you think the season is over already then just stop watching. There is a lot of hockey to be played. Sure, the Penguins have only earned four points in the last seven games but just as quickly they could earn 10 in the next seven and this is a moot point. Like I said before being a fan is about the ups and downs and you have to be able to handle that.

I think the Penguins will be alright in the long run, just hard to see that right now but this team has talent. I know some people might want to see a huge trade but in reality that won't change the problems we have now, just have to keep playing hard and good things will happen. Stay the course.

Washington in like six minutes.
