Penguins Game Day 56 - vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Tampa Bay Lightning

7:00 p.m., CONSOL Energy Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The second game of a back-to-back tonight as the Penguins will take on the Lightning. Yesterday the Penguins were able to put eight goals in the back of the net against the Jets and it would be nice to see them do the same thing again on a rare Sunday night game.

Brent Johnson is going to get the nod in net tonight as the Penguins plan on him getting about seven starts the rest of the way so hopefully he can continue to play like he did in his last start.

As I said yesterday the Penguins could stack wins. They are only two points back of the Flyers in the Atlantic and they have a tough match up with the Wings tonight

I have a feeling the defense isn't too happy about how they played last night and will want to come out and prove that they are way better than they showed yesterday. The defense, as I talked in the recap of yesterday's game, was pretty bad and let up five goals on only 25 shots. Most might blame that strictly on the goaltender but the whole defensive unit was just as responsible for the goals as Marc Andre Fleury. They are going to come out with something to prove and wouldn't be shocked if they wanted to shut down the goal scoring trio of Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos. Those guys can put the puck into the back of the net and have always given the Penguins trouble.

What will be interesting to see if/how the Penguins will respond to what Mr. Lecavalier did last time these two teams played. If you need a refresher then here it is:

Lacavalier is such a punk.
