I hope everyone had a nice weekend and is taking advantage of the last few hours of freedom before they have to get back to work during this beautiful weather we are having. Well, when you get to the office tomorrow, and the rest of the week, you will have something to look forward to as I have been working hard for the better part of the last two weeks to get a nice baseball podcast preview series. You want to know about it you say? Well, let me fill you in.
With baseball season coming up there is a lot going on and for the most part I think there has been a good bit of Pirates coverage on the site, especially with the roundtable broadcast that gets on the site every week where I get together with the guys from McEffect, Northside Notch and Raise the Jolly Roger. Well, with all the coverage that I try to get you about the Pirates (live blog's, recaps, a few original pieces, twitter talk) we all usually don't talk too much about the other five teams in the division. With how many times we play every other team it seems kind of foolish that I don't spend a little more time breaking stuff down in general in the NL Central, but having a real job doesn't always give me that much time.
With that being said I thought this year I would try to fix that at least for the beginning of the season. Over the past few weeks I have been taking some time to talk to a blogger from every NL Central team (even the Pirates!) and have them tell us all about their respective team's and what they expect this season.
Over the course of the podcast (which can last anywhere from 40-55 minutes) we take a look back at last season, get some of the main story lines from spring training, talk about the minor league system, get some in depth analysis of what to expect in 2012 and get some general thoughts about what other team's bloggers think of the Pirates.
Like I said I am going to be putting on of these out a day starting tomorrow and here is how it is going to transpire throughout the week as we go in reverse order of how the team's finished in the NL Central in 2011, with the exception of the Pirates who will be brought out last.
To prepare you for the madness these are the blogs that we had the honor of talking to:
Monday - Houston Astros - Crawfish Boxes
Tuesday - Chicago Cubs - Bleacher Nation
Wednesday - Cincinnati Reds - Red Reporter
Thursday - St. Louis Cardinals - Pitcher Hit Eighth
Friday - Milwaukee Brewers - Disciples of Uecker
Saturday - Pittsburgh Pirates - Wouldn't you like to know? It's a SURPRISE
Like I said I hope this is something everyone enjoys. Be on the look out starting tomorrow morning.
Let's go Bucs.
