Penguins Game 6 Recap - Islanders 4, Penguins 1
Yep. That about sums it up. This game was close until the Islanders scored their first goal and even before that you kinda had that feeling. Nothing went well. It was pretty much all bad.
The Penguins lines were changing about every other shift and nothing was working. While the defense and goaltending has been good for the first five games they were dreadful in both aspects leaving Fleury to get pulled to start the third period and the defense really making some brutal turnovers that led directly to Islanders goals.
The Islanders are a much better team that most want to give them credit for. They are fast and have actually have some good talent in Michael Grabner and John Tavares. You could argue that the Penguins have more talent but that talent looked lost while the New York talent looked like they were the veteran group the Penguins should be.
I have been talking about the Penguins power play being bad so far this season and they went up against a penalty kill unit that has only given up one power play goal all season. The Penguins could barely get the puck into the zone and when they did they could barely keep it in. Ugly. After the Penguins were down 4-0 they actually got a break when they got a five minute power play where they could effectively score as many goals in that five minutes as they want but they managed only three shots on that power play and had only one good looked that was snuffed out.
It was just a brutal game. That is all from me.
