Penguins Game 15 Preview - @ Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg Jets

7:00 p.m., MTS Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba

The Penguins Last Game:
February 13, 2013 - Penguins 4, Senators 2 [Recap]

The Penguins are going up to Winnipeg for the second time this season and play the Jets in what should be a pretty interesting game. The last time these two teams met was earlier in the season when Sidney Crosby scored the first two goals of the game but the Penguins were not able turn those into points as the they fell to the Jets by the score of 4-2.

Earlier this week the Penguins traded Eric Tangradi to the Jets and he had some interesting things to say today when he was asked about the Penguins organization.

Some people kinda got worked up about that earlier today. I dunno, it doesn't really seem like too much to me. Tangradi wasn't going to work in the Penguins system and even though he doesn't even have a full season of NHL games under his belt it was time for him to move on and he seemed to be really excited about that. It was just interesting that people think that they can rail on Tangradi as much as they want and that is OK but the minute he says something that they don't like it's the end of the world. Was Tangradi good here? No, but that doesn't mean he can't find success somewhere else. Hopefully he finds some success in Winnipeg, just not tonight.

In his place Beau Bennett will get his first shot for some playing time with the Penguins. He is slated to start on the third line but you have to assume that will just be for a few shifts to "get his feet wet" and then he will be juggled into a few other lines. Matt Cooke is going to be playing on the top line with Evgeni Malkin and James Neal and that should be interesting to watch because Cooke was pretty good with them in some limited playing time against Ottawa. I would imagine that Bennett will skate with Crosby and Chris Kunitz and possibly push Pascal Dupuis to another line to work. I don't expect big things from Bennett right away because I am not really sure if he is ready for it but I guess it will be sink or swim tonight.

Outside of that it should be a pretty straight forward game. Playing in Winnipeg is always a pretty interesting game because those fans get into it. I assume that the Jets start with a 1-0 lead before the game since fan loudness counts for something, or so I am told. All kidding aside if the Penguins can come out with a start like the last time they were up there I wouldn't imagine they would give up four straight goals. They really went into a shell last time and the defense wasn't very good. The offense hasn't been that good but they did put four in the net against a really good goaltender in Ottawa so we will see.

Marc Andre Fleury gets the start in net and has been pretty good in his last five starts. In those five starts he has won four of them and posted a 2.02 goals against average with a .924 save percentage. Not too shabby for the good old Flower.
