Penguins Game 26 Recap - Penguins 6, Islanders 1

- To be honest I have no idea how to even explain Tomas Vokoun's night. I can't do that because he spent a vast majority of it day dreaming and periodically having us wondering if he was still alive. He faced only four shots in the first period and only six shots in the second period and while the Islanders did find the back of the net at one point they really had no chances. The defense wasn't letting them and when the occasional puck did get through Vokoun was there. I think he stayed out there for the second and third period because someone needed to stand there.

- Chris Kunitz has always been a streaky scorer but he has turned it to another level tonight. He had a hat trick about half way through the game and added a pair of assists for a five point night. He is now only one point behind Steven Stamkos for second in the league in scoring. After not recording a point against the Leafs last night he now has eight goals and 12 points in the month of March which is only five games.

-Sidney Crosby with a five point night. I guess you can knock him for having four of those points on secondary assists but whatever. Now up to 45 points in 26 games played. Dangerously close to a two point per game average which is just filthy. Probably playing the best hockey of his career. Right now if he wants something to happen on the ice it is going to happen and nobody is going to stop him.

-Lots of people always talk about getting Crosby a winger but Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis has been doing a pretty decent job. He scored twice tonight and now has 11 goals on the season. With the emergence of Beau Bennett is there really much you want to add on the offensive end? I mean it is always good to improve but outside of the fourth line not being overly good this team is pretty set offensively.

-Everything was really good tonight. Honestly. The power play went 2-for-4 and the penalty kill was pretty good and outside of Simon Despres just straight falling down that led directly to the 2-on-1 that gave the Islanders their only goal things just really weren't bad at all.

-The Penguins won 39-of-58 faceoffs. That is ridiculous. Brandon Sutter was 12-of-18 and Joe Vitale was a perfect 7-for-7. Huge.

-The Penguins lead the league with 97 goals in 26 games. The Hawks (26 games played) and Lightning (25 games played) are second with...85. Impressive.

-This really sets it up nice for Tuesday when the Penguins play the Boston Bruins. The Bruins are one of the best team in the league and while they have 35 points, which is one fewer than the Penguins, they have also played four less games than the Penguins. This probably is the first real big time game of the season and it is going to be a slugfest. It's gonna be awesome.
