Penguins Game 38 Preview - @ New York Rangers

New York Rangers

7:30 p.m., Madison Square Garden, New York, New York

The Last Penguins Game:
March 2, 2013 - Buffalo 4, Pittsburgh 1 [Recap]

Somehow last night the Penguins were unable to win a game for the first time in over a month and somehow I was able to wake up in the morning. Shocking, I know, but it turns out that this wasn't the world ender. The Penguins were going to lose and that they did last night in a sloppy fashion. It sucks but the season churns on.

Evidently Ray Shero was not happy with what happened last night has he traded for Jussi Jokinen from the Carolina Hurricans which will amount to a sixth or seventh round pick PLUS the Canes are going to be paying part of Jokinen's salary. This is a nice get for the Penguins as he can now [probably] center the top line with Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis and you would have to think that Shero wasn't all that thrilled with the mashup of players that he has to play on that top line so he went out and got someone. Not only will Jokinen help in upgrading the spot till Crosby gets back but he has been graet on faceoffs all season (nearly 60%) and he works a ton of time on the PK so it should be a really night depth fit once Sidney Crosby gets back. The Penguins have struggled at times winning faceoffs so this will be a huge get for the fourth line once Bing is back.

Other than that there isn't too much going on today. The Penguins were bad yesterday and they are going to be playing a pretty hungry Rangers team who currently aren't in the playoff picture. The Rangers made a move yesterday when they traded for Ryane Clowe and he will be in the linup, but not really sure where. The Rangers haven't scored in the last two games against the Penguins so I guess getting a goal would be a good start.

Also as I was typing this out Marian Gaborik was traded to Columbus, so, good times.

Marc-Andre Fleury between the pipes tonight. Not really shocking as Tomas Vokoun struggled last night and MAF came in and looked really good. Hopefully he can come out and continue playing like he was before he had a few games off for injury.
