Penguins Game 47 Preview - @ New Jersey Devils

New Jersey Devils

The Last Penguins Game
April 23, 2013 - Buffalo 4, Pittsburgh 2 [Recap]

As the regular season winds down with only a few games left there really isn't much left to do for the Penguins. They have the top seed and really the only thing that most care about is that they don't suffer an injury in the final two games against the Devils and Hurricanes. The news is getting better for the Penguins as news trickled down that both Paul Martin and James Neal have an outside chance of playing on Saturday in the regular season finale. It was thought that Martin was out until the second playoff series (if the Penguins made it) and with concussions you really have no idea what a timetable might be but both were practicing with the team which is outstanding news.

Not really sure on Sidney Crosby. Dan Bylsma said that he had some dental work done today but that was somewhat expected and really not too much else going on. There is still hope that he will be able to suit up for the playoff opener on May 1. He is looking to get his clearance tomorrow so I would be pretty surprised if he played on Saturday, then again nothing would really surprise me.

The Penguins are sending out nearly the same lineup as they did against Buffalo. Brooks Orpik is not in the lineup with an upper body injury and nobody really knows how bad it may or may not be. Hopefully it isn't anything too bad but even if it would keep him out for some playoff games it is nice to know that the Penguins have some depth on the back end to fill in.
