Pirates Game 24 Recap - Pirates 5, Cardinals 3

-Really nice come from behind win for the Pirates. They were getting shut down for much of the game but the Cardinals decided they wanted to rely on their pen to win the game and not use Jake Westbrook who had shut down the Pirates to nearly nothing but I am not complaining.

-The Pirates got the job done from the bottom of the lineup. The six-seven-eight spots in the lineup went a combined 6-for-12 with four runs scored and two runs driven in. I can deal with that. At times you are going to need the bottom of your lineup to step up in order to win a game and that is exactly what the bottom of the lineup did tonight.

A.J. Burnett was really good tonight. Sure he got into some deep counts and got into some trouble but as one of the top arms in the rotation he needed to minimalize the damage and that is exactly what he did. He went six innings and threw 111 pitches while giving up five hits, two runs, and struck out six. Nice job by Burnett.

Good win for the Pirates. They played like garbage in the first game and lost an ugly game but were able to come back and even up the series. They win the series tomorrow and it is a huge overall trip to St. Louis despite the first game.
