-The Dodgers payroll this year is $213M and the Pirates is $55M. The Dodgers payroll jumped up almost $124M since last season. Must be nice.

-Last season the Pirates went 1-6 against the Dodgers. They were brutally bad in their opening season trip to Dodger Stadium getting swept in a three game series.

-The Pirates will see a familiar face in Zack Greinke after he signed a monster deal with the Dodgers in the offseason. Last season he appeared in only one game against the Bucs and was roughed up to the tune of six runs (five earned) and seven hits in only five innings of work. He also gave up a pair of bombs.

-Jonathan Sanchez was nothing less than awful last season as he makes his first start for the Pirates. In 2012 between starts with Kansas City and Colorado he went 1-9 with an 8.07 ERA in 15 starts. It was that bad. Hopefully it's better, but then how can't it be better?

-Through three games the Pirates only have 13 hits with four of those going for extra bases. Clint Barmes has two extra base hits and the Pirates have yet to homer. The team has an OPS of .411.
