Notes:

-Clayton Kershaw is really good at baseball. His last start was a complete game four hit shutout of the San Francisco Giants where he threw only 94 pitches. He didn't walk a single batter and struck out seven.

-The Pirates through four games hold a .127/.195/.161 line with only four extra base hits that are all doubles. Half of those extra base hits are from the bat of Clint Barmes.

-A.J. Burnett makes his second start of the season thanks to the off day the day after the home opener. He pitched pretty well in the opener with ten strikeouts but only made it through 5.2 innings. He will need to be on his 'A' game tonight if the Pirates even want to have a chance against Kershaw.

-Last season in two starts against the Pirates Kershaw gave up only four runs on ten hits, throwing 15 total innings.

-The Pirates offense will eventually be better but I have no idea when that might be. Their BABIP is only .181 so that will normalize some for some help. Last season in March and April the Pirates .228/.282/.337 and that was epically brutal just to give you some context on how bad they have truly been.
