-Stephen Strasburg is just an outstanding pitcher. I don't think I need to tell you that he burst on the scene two seasons ago with a top flight fastball and a filthy breaking pitch but he was really all he was supposed to be. This season he has been good but recently he has been scuffling. He has taken a loss in his last four starts and while he only gave up more than five hits once in those four starts (he gave up six in his last start) he just hasn't been getting any run support. Actually the Nationals have lose the last five starts by Strasburg and have scored a combined nine runs in those five starts.

-His last outing he went six innings and gave up six hits, walked four, and struck out eight. He did have some tightness in his forearm but he seems to be brushing that off.

-Last season he started against the Pirates one time and threw six innings, struck out 13 (!!!!), gave up five hits and two runs (one earned).

-Jeff Locke is riding a 13 inning scoreless streak and has been pitching the best baseball of his short major league career. Last outing he went seven innings, struck out four, walked two, and gave up three hits in a 9-0 Pirates win over the Cardinals.

-Today the Pirates will be televised nationally (sort of) on Fox. They will be only show in certain regions but it seems like they will be shown over most of the East coast so that is really cool.

-Please check out the post I put up earlier today about Starling Marte and who he is and is becoming.
