The Last Penguins Game:
Thursday, October 3, 2013 - Pittsburgh 3, New Jersey 0 [Recap]
The Penguins did a really nice job in the first game of the season by beating New Jersey and then get a little easier test tonight when they match up against Buffalo. It is no secret that Buffalo is a pretty bad team and they are coming off a game on Friday night where Ryan Miller stopped 45-of-46 shots. The problem is that Buffalo didn't score a goal and only have one goal in their two games this season.
The Sabres do have some talent as Thomas Vanek is a top NHL goal scorer but there really isn't much else there. With the Penguins playing a pretty good defensive hockey game against New Jersey I would expect that to continue and I am sure Marc-Andre Fleury is going to want to come out and prove that his first game was not really a fluke.
The Penguins are going to be without James Neal again. He was able to suit up in the opener but was only able to play a handful of shifts and had only about four minutes of ice time before leaving the game and not returning. I am not really sure what the injury is besides an "uppper body" injury but with Kris Letang already out this is less than ideal, especially for Evgeni Malkin and his second line.
Should be a fun time at CONSOL Energy Center again. At least I hope it turns out to be a fun time.
