The Last Penguins Game:
October 15, 2013 - Pittsburgh 3, Edmonton 2 [Recap]
It doesn't get much better than Penguins/Flyers. Early in the season the Penguins have played some pretty bad teams which has resulted in some pretty boring games but that won't be the case tonight. Despite the Flyers being pretty bad so far you can guarantee that when the Penguins step on the ice there will be a little pep in their step and their fans will be ready to boo Sidney Crosby, Evegeni Malkin, and everyone else.
The Flyers are in a bad place right now. Not only have they only been able to pencil in one win in the first seven games but they are without Scott Hartnell and Vincent Lecavalier who are both on the shelf with injuries and along with that the Flyers are only scoring 10 goals in the first seven games. Not good times offensively in Philadelphia.
That is going to be a problem because the Flyers are pretty bad in goal (Steve Mason) and their defense leaves a lot to be desired. This really isn't a change from anything that has been true in past seasons but I feel like I should mention it.
On the Penguins side they will have a pretty interesting lineup with Deryk Engelland taking shifts on the right win of the fourth line. I have to assume this is only because they are playing the Flyers and someone has to be the tough guy out there. It seems kinda dumb but I am pretty convinced that is the reason and nothing Dan Bylsma says is going to change my mind.
