The Last Penguins Game
November 2, 2013 - Pittsburgh 3, Columbus 0 [Recap]

This season is sure a little bit different than last season. By that I mean that there are many more multiple day breaks and while the Penguins last played on Saturday it seemed like a lot longer than that. Anyways I am not sure where I am going with this but it will nice to have the Penguins back on TV tonight.

The Rangers started off the season on the road for the first nine games and this is actually only their fifth home game. Madison Square Garden got a trillion dollar (estimated) renovations and I am interested to see if it still looks like the Rangers are playing with half the lights out and we still get to see shelf that they put their cameras on when the puck is in either end. I assume these things are still going to be the same so that will be fun.

Anyways, the Rangers were a pick to win the Metro Division this year (again) and they are off to a pretty bad start to the season. I mean the whole division is pretty awful and the Rangers are just a part of that. Henrik Lundqvist is one of the best goaltenders in the league but he isn't play as such so far with a .914 save percentage and a 2.57 goals against average. Four times already this season he's given up four or more goals but in the last three games he's only given up three goals. The Penguins have been able to solve him so that would be pretty cool.

The Rangers offense has been, well, not very good. They are 27th in the league scoring only 1.83 goals per game while giving up an average of one more goal per game. Six times this season the Rangers have scored one goal or less and have only scored three or more goals five times. The Penguins average 3.13 goals per game. That's good.

Beau Bennett might get back into the lineup tonight. There have been kinda mixed signals on this front but I would be pretty surprised to see him on the ice. I think he probably will suit up on Saturday but then again if he was in the lineup tonight it wouldn't totally shock me. It would be a nice addition to the lineup and force some players like Jayson Megna to move down to the third or fourth line which gives the team more depth and makes them a better team.
