Pirates Game 31 Recap - Blue Jays 7, Pirates 2

The first two games of this series the Pirates played some bad baseball and fell behind but were able to come back in the late innings for a couple of pretty thrilling wins. Today the Pirates got a bad start from Edison Volquez and the offense mustered up only four hits and there was no comeback.

Volquez wasn't very good today. No two ways about it. Six runs on seven hits and three walks and made it through only five innings before having to give way to the bullpen. Volquez was pitching like the best starter in the rotation but has been pretty bad in his last two. Through his first five starts he gave up seven runs on 21 hits. In his last two starts he gave up 12 runs on 14 hits. That just is no good.

The offense went off the last two nights on the Blue Jays bullpen. Tonight they got 1.2 innings on the Jay pens and it wasn't going. Josh Harrison had a pair of triples with Pedro Alvarez and Chris Stewart having the only other hits.

Thinking about it I can't really be all that upset with a series win. I mean the Pirates have been no less than awful in this early season so winning two of three is better than losing two of three, but sweeping a series would have been nice.
